Chapter Two: The Cardboard Hardware Store

Listen to this chapter!

First Little Pig found a nice spot to put his hardware store and began the process of building it. He decided to use cardboard boxes, since they were in abundance in the alley. And he gathered as many as he could. He also found lots of paper sacks. They would be easy to tape together. He bought more rolls of transparent tape and taped together what he though would be a nice hardware store.

As he stood back to admire his work, a huge food truck whizzed past, sucking up vegetables from a nearby outdoor market, a big pile of eggs and also a defenseless rabbit. The whole kit and kaboodle were slammed into the cardboard hardware store. All of First Little Pig's work came to naught. He sat down on a torn piece of cardboard with a piece of transparent tape still flapping in the wind. First Little Pig sobbed. "I should have used duct tape!"

Third Little Pig finished his lunch and was rested, so he began his journey down the south road where his brother had gone. He came upon the the two rolls of duct tape on the side of the road. He eagerly gathered them up and made room for them in his pockets. He was very excited. Now he had three rolls of duct tape!

"Why," he thought, "if one roll of duct tape is good to have, just think of what good fortune three rolls would be!" He was so excited he did a little pig-jig. "I will have plenty of duct tape to begin my business."

He had a big smile on his face as he hurried on his way, excited about his adventure.
